Event format
The MVP Backyard Ultra is a timed backyard-ultra held over multiple days from Fri 6th Feb to Mon 9th Feb 2026. The event uses a fixed 6.7 km loop that must be completed every hour, on the hour. After each hour, all participants who have completed the loop remain in the competition and are recorded as tied; the race continues until only one participant completes a lap and is declared the winner.
Entry options and fees
Registration opens on Wed 10th September. Prices vary by registration period and category, and Humanitix booking fees are added at checkout. Participants can choose a full open entry (unlimited laps) or a limited laps option called "Yards" and may pay to upgrade mid-race to continue to the next stage.
Distances and typical entry prices:
- Open - unlimited laps; price range $180 to $280
- 4 Yds - 25 km; price range $70 to $130
- 7 Yds - 42 km (marathon); price range $100 to $180
- 15 Yds - 100 km; price range $140 to $230
Location and charity
The event takes place at Brimbank Park, Keilor Park Drive, Keilor VIC 3036. Trailsplus donates $1 per participant to Canteen, the Australian organisation for young people living with cancer. Trailsplus reports total donations now exceed $80,000; in 2025 this event had 180 competitors and a combined $250 donated to Canteen.
