Trails & Tarmac 12hr BYU - Winter

This is a 12 hour Backyard Ultra held in Crickhowell in the Black Mountains, Powys. The event uses a 4.2 mile loop that is approximately 50 percent trail and 50 percent tarmac. The route includes one gradual climb and a short steep section; the remainder is relatively flat.

The format requires runners to complete each of the first eleven loops within an hour. The twelfth loop is a timed race to determine the winner, who receives a trophy. Anyone who completes a loop receives a medal, and a special medal is awarded to participants who reach 32 miles. Timing will be provided, and overall results show distance covered. The event is capped at 12 hours.

Support is provided on site with hot and cold food, water, medics, showers, toilets, and event photographers whose images are free to download after the event. Common aid will be available at the event headquarters; personal aid is not allowed while on a loop. Rules restrict non-competitors on the course and prohibit artificial aids including trekking poles. There are also specific guidelines for supporters regarding the corral, phone use with runners on course, and kitchen access.
