Trails & Tarmac Summer 12hr BYU 2026
Trails & Tarmac Summer 12hr BYU is a Backyard Ultra event held on Saturday 19 September 2026 near Crickhowell in the Black Mountains, Powys. The course is a 4.167 mile loop that is evenly split between trail and tarmac. The route includes one gradual climb and a short steep section; the remaining terrain is described as relatively flat.
The format uses hourly loops. Competitors must complete each of the first eleven loops within an hour. The twelfth and final loop is a timed race to determine the winner. The event is capped at 12 hours. Loop timing will be provided. Results list each runner by distance covered.
Support and logistics provided at the event include a common aid station at headquarters, food and drink provision during the day, hot food after the fifth loop, medics on site, showers and toilets, and event photographers with images available for free download after the event. Parking at headquarters is charged at £5 and includes entry into a separate free event of choice. Personal aid during a loop and artificial aids are not permitted. Non-competitors are not allowed on the course and supporters are restricted from the starting corral. The minimum age to enter is 17 and the published entry fee is £75.
