Event overview
Trails & Tarmac Backyard Ultra - Winter is a backyard ultra held in Crickhowell, Powys on 14 February 2026. The event uses a loop of about 4.17 miles. Medals are awarded to anyone who reaches 32 miles. The last person to complete a loop is declared the winner and receives a trophy; competitors who stop before 32 miles are recorded as DNF with their distance covered noted.
Format and facilities
The event runs on a strict hourly loop format. Each loop starts exactly one hour after the previous one, with 3, 2 and 1 minute warnings, and each loop must be completed within the hour to count. Competitors must be in the starting corral at the bell and must start each loop at the bell. Except for restroom breaks, runners may not leave the course during a loop. No personal aid is allowed during a loop; common aid stations are used, with one aid station at HQ. Artificial aids, including trekking poles, are not permitted.
On-site amenities include medics, showers and toilets, daytime photographers with free downloads, parking at HQ for a £5 fee, and a basic camping field within walking distance of HQ.
