Trails & Tarmac Backyard Ultra : event details
Trails & Tarmac Backyard Ultra is a looped endurance event held in Crickhowell, Powys. The route is roughly half trail and half tarmac. The course has one gradual climb, a short steep section, and mostly flat terrain. Medals are awarded to anyone who reaches 32 miles, classed as an ultra. The event is open-ended and the last person to complete a loop is declared the winner and receives a trophy. The winter entry fee is listed as £100 and the minimum age is 17.
Format, rules and facilities
Competitors run repeated loops of about 4.17–4.2 miles. Each loop must be completed within an hour to count. Runners must start each loop at the bell from a starting corral. Only common aid stations are allowed during a loop; personal aid is not permitted on the course. Non-competitors are not allowed on the course and supporters may not enter the corral. Phone contact with runners on course is restricted to emergencies. Timing will be provided and results list distance covered by each runner. The event provides medics, showers and toilets, photographers during daytime, parking at HQ (paid), basic camping nearby, and options for post-race recovery such as sauna and ice bath.
