Trails & Tarmac Backyard Ultra - Winter
Organised by Limitless Trails, this Backyard Ultra takes place near Crickhowell in the Black Mountains, Powys, on 14 February 2026. The course is a mix of trail and tarmac with one gradual climb, a short steep section, and mostly relatively flat terrain.
The event uses a loop of about 4.2 miles. Each loop starts precisely one hour after the previous; competitors must be in the starting corral at the bell and must start at the bell. Every loop must be completed within an hour to be counted. No late starts, no non competitors on the course, and no artificial aids including trekking poles. Personal aid during a loop is not allowed, though common aid stations are provided and one will be at HQ.
Medals are intended for anyone who reaches 32 miles. The last person to complete a loop is allocated the winner's trophy. The race is open ended and timing will be available; results will record distance covered for each runner.
Participants will be fed and watered, with additional hot food noted after the 5th yard. Medics will be on site and showers and toilets are available. Photographers will be present during daytime and images will be free to download after the event. Parking at HQ costs £5 and basic camping with nearby toilets is possible without prior booking. Entry fee is £100 and minimum age is 17. The event is currently full and new entries go onto a waiting list. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
