Trails & Tarmac Backyard Ultra - Winter (14 February 2026)
The event takes place on 14 February 2026 in Crickhowell, Powys, set in the Black Mountains. The course is about a 4.2-mile loop that is roughly half trail and half tarmac, with one gradual climb and a short steep section; the rest is described as relatively flat. Medals are awarded to any competitor who reaches 32 miles and the last person to complete a loop is awarded the winner's trophy. Minimum age to enter is 17. Entry fee is £100. Entries opened 25 June 2025 and close 6 February 2026.
Race format and logistics
The event follows a backyard ultra format. Each loop starts exactly one hour after the previous start; competitors must be in the starting corral at the bell and must start with the bell. Each loop must be completed within an hour to count, including the final loop. Competitors may not leave the course during a loop except for restrooms. No personal aid is allowed during a loop; a common aid station will be at headquarters. No artificial aids, including trekking poles, are permitted. Timing will be provided and results will report distance covered. The event is open-ended until only one runner remains.
On-site facilities include medics, showers and toilets, photographers with free post-event downloads, limited camping near HQ, and parking at HQ (£5, which enters a ballot for a free event). A GPX file is available for the route. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
