Sacramento Mountains Endurance Series
The Sacramento Mountains Endurance Series is a three-race series based in Cloudcroft, New Mexico (village elevation about 8,676 ft). The series runs over summer to fall and features high-elevation single-track, historic rail-bed trails, and forest roads with views into the Tularosa Basin. Series registration is limited to 50 runners. Pricing noted for the series includes an early-bird rate and a later rate.

Trails & Rails is held at the Trestle Recreation Area at the junction of Hwy 82 and 130 in Cloudcroft, NM. The event uses historic railroad grades, old highway segments, a short paved loop, and some rolling singletrack. Runners see overlooks of the Tularosa Basin about 4,000 ft below the start village.
Distances
- 8 miles - about 1,350 ft elevation gain and loss
- 3 miles - about 576 ft elevation change
- 1 Mile Kid’s Dash - ages 10 and under; strollers allowed
The 8-mile course has two water stations. The 3-mile course is cup-less, so runners must carry their own hydration. There is a cut-off time of 12:00 pm for the 3- and 8-mile courses. Registration is non-refundable and shirts are guaranteed only with early registration. Age-group awards are given for top three in multiple age categories.
