Trails & Rails : Cloudcroft, New Mexico
Trails & Rails is a trail running event held at the Trestle Recreation Area in Cloudcroft, New Mexico, near the junction of Highway 82 and 130. The venue sits at about 8,676 feet elevation and the courses pass through fir and spruce forest, historic railroad grade, old highway segments, and sections of singletrack. The route layout provides overlooks of the Tularosa Basin.
Distances offered include:
- 1 Mile Kid's Dash for ages 10 and under, strollers allowed
- 3 mile course with about 576 feet of elevation change
- 8 mile course with about 1,350 feet of elevation gain and loss
Aid and support details vary by distance. The 8 mile course has two water stations. The 3 mile course is cup less and participants are expected to carry their own hydration. Pre race pastries and post race snacks are provided at the finish area. Shirts are custom designed and finisher medals are awarded; shirt sizes are guaranteed only with early registration. Awards are given to the top three in each age group across multiple age categories. Registration is non refundable and the event is organized by Wanderlust Running. A cut off time of 12:00 pm applies to the 3 mile and 8 mile courses. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
