Trails 4 Tails - Hanover, PA

The Trails 4 Tails event takes place at Codorus State Park in Hanover, Pennsylvania. It offers three race formats on a multi-loop course that includes about a mile of pavement, open fields, and winding singletrack trails. The course passes through areas like the Chestnut Orchard, the site of Rummel Farm, and the historic Mary Ann Furnace. In some conditions, the route includes a scenic stretch along the lake shoreline. The loop direction alternates yearly, with clockwise routes in odd years and counterclockwise in even years.

The races are:

  • 40 Mile Ultra: 7 loops of a 5.72-mile course, totaling approximately 40 miles with about 4,200 feet of elevation gain.
  • 40 Mile Relay: Teams of up to 7 runners complete 7 loops of the same 5.72-mile course.
  • 25K: 3 loops of the 5.72-mile course, totaling approximately 17.2 miles with about 1,800 feet of elevation gain.

All races start and finish at Pavilion #1, which has restroom facilities. A stocked aid station at the pavilion offers items like Tailwind, Coke, Ginger Ale, bacon, pierogies, quesadillas, grilled cheese, pickles, and sweet and salty snacks.

The 40-mile races have an 11-hour overall cutoff, with a hard aid station cutoff at 4:00 p.m. The 25K has a 7.5-hour cutoff. On-site camping is available at Codorus State Park. A race-day picnic or cookout is hosted for participants and supporters. Participants registering by August 1 receive an official race shirt.
