Trails 4 Tails - Hanover, PA
Trails 4 Tails is a trail event at Codorus State Park in Hanover, PA offering multiple distance options centered on Pavilion #1, which serves as the start and finish area and hosts restrooms and a fully stocked aid station. The course mixes about a mile of pavement, open fields, winding singletrack, and a shoreline section when conditions allow. Runners pass through the Chestnut Orchard, the site of Rummel Farm, and the Mary Ann Furnace area. Each year the loop direction alternates between clockwise and counterclockwise.
Distances offered:
- 40 Mile Ultra: 7 loops of 5.72 miles, ~4,200 ft elevation gain.
- 40 Mile Relay: 7 loops of 5.72 miles, ~600 ft elevation gain per loop.
- 25K+: 3 loops of 5.72 miles, ~17.2 miles total, ~1,800 ft elevation gain.
The aid station provides Tailwind, Coke, Ginger Ale, bacon, pierogies, quesadillas, grilled cheese, pickles, and assorted sweet and salty snacks. The 40 Mile Ultra and the relay share an 11-hour overall cutoff; the 25K has a 7.5-hour cutoff. Teams for the relay may include up to seven runners, and members may run one or multiple loops in any order.
Additional on-site features include a race picnic or cookout and camping at Codorus State Park. Awards are given to top finishers in the 25K and 40M, with custom awards for first place female and first place male. Dogs are welcome to run with participants.
