Trailhead 5k
Trailhead 5k is a community running event in Huntsville, Alabama, near Hickory Cove Nature Preserve. The main race is a hybrid 5K course that combines paved greenway and singletrack trail sections.
The course layout includes approximately 1.2 miles on paved greenway followed by about 2 miles on a well-marked singletrack trail. The route returns to the greenway for the final section on pavement.

There is also a one-mile Fun Run listed as a separate event. Registration opens July 8, 2026 and closes September 10, 2026. Registration fees listed are $25.00 for the 5K and $0.00 for the Mile Fun Run.
Packet pick-up is at Fleet Feet Huntsville on Friday from 12 to 5. Proceeds from the event go to the Land Trust of North Alabama. Organizers encourage family participation.
