Trailfest - Salcey Forest
TrailFest takes place in Salcey Forest, a Forestry England site located near Northampton. The event features multiple distance options through woodland terrain, utilizing a course primarily composed of well-maintained pathways, crushed stone, and forest floor. Most of the route is hard-packed trail, with some sections over grassland that may be soft in wet conditions.
The following distances are available:
- 10 km (Minimum age 16)
- Half Marathon (Minimum age 17)
- Marathon (Minimum age 18)
- 50 km (Minimum age 21)
This is a cupless event, meaning no disposable cups are provided at aid stations. Participants must carry their own bottle or cup to receive water. For those competing in the half marathon, marathon, or 50 km, a container capable of holding at least 200ml is mandatory kit. While light trail shoes are recommended due to uneven stony surfaces, road shoes may be suitable depending on the weather.
The forest site includes a café and toilets. Support crews are permitted to assist runners, and spectators are welcome to support from various points along the course or from the communal grass area near the event headquarters. The event is held under a UK Athletics and Trail Running Association license, which prohibits participants from running with dogs. Generous cut-off times are in place for all distances, with the event remaining open until late afternoon.
All participants who complete their distance receive a medal and a drink. The course is fully marked, and GPX files are provided for backup navigation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
