Beat The Sunset 5K Road Race
Beat The Sunset is an evening 5K road race held on fully closed public roads through the Northamptonshire countryside. The event uses a single lap course that leaves the start line, follows roads toward Desborough, passes a roundabout toward Market Harborough, continues onto Brampton Wood Lane and finishes after a fast 700 m downhill section. The net elevation change for the course is +67 and -101 feet.
The race meets at Targetcraft Archery, West Lodge Rural Centre, Back Lane, Desborough, Kettering NN14 2SH. There is free parking at the venue and toilet facilities are available at Targetcraft Archery. Race numbers with timing chips are issued on the day and competitors are advised not to tamper with timing chips.
There is no water station on the course; bottled water will be provided for each finisher at the finish and participants are asked to take their bottles home for recycling. Prizes are awarded to first, second and third male and female competitors.
The event was created by Desborough Races and was taken over by Go Beyond in 2023. Recent editions have attracted club and unaffiliated runners; in 2025 the field included entrants from 26 clubs and 130 unaffiliated runners. Published results are available for 2022 through 2025. Entry is limited to 400 runners. Entry fees listed for recent editions were £16.00 for affiliated and £18.00 for unaffiliated entries. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
