TRAILDOG Discover Kielder Ultra
TRAILDOG Discover Kielder Ultra is the first ultra added to the Kielder weekend, held on Saturday 20 March. The route follows the Lakeside Way for a 46 km course that features both natural and manmade points of interest. Participants collect physical souvenirs at points along the route.
The event offers multiple participation formats. Entrants may run or walk, and may take a dog for the full distance, for some sections, or not at all. Dog swaps must be arranged privately with friends or family; organisers will not transport dogs or facilitate swaps. Organisers will provide two main aid stations and can transport bags, kit, or specific nutrition to those aid stations. The two main aid stations and the starts of stages two and three are at Kielder Castle and Hawkhope Car Park. All participants will wear trackers so they can be located on the course, and organisers will arrange transport back to the finish for participants and dogs who cannot continue.
A team relay option is available with approximate stage splits and handover locations at the main aid stations. Teams must organise their own transport between aid stations. Participants who complete the Ultra on Saturday can join a special Ultra Legends walking wave on Sunday to still earn their final Collective medal. Those already entered in the full Collective series cannot be changed to the Ultra because of series entry terms. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
