About the race
The Trailblazer Race is a family-focused event at Shoreline Park Kite Flying Area in Mountain View, CA. It includes road races and a trail walk that use the Stevens Creek Trail and Shoreline Park routes with views of wildlife, salt ponds, and surrounding bay mountains.
Available event distances:
- 10K road run on asphalt, fast and flat
- 5K road run on asphalt, fast and flat
- 3-mile round-trip trail walk on the Stevens Creek Trail
- 1 mile kids fun run
Free children’s activities for toddlers to age 10 are offered in a festival area and include snacks, supervised games, and face painting. Kids who run receive a prize or souvenir; the kids fun run requires a waiver and parents must remain with their children.
Course and access notes: the 5K and 10K are asphalt and stroller friendly if runners stay with their pace group; double-wide strollers are not recommended. Pets are prohibited in the refuge areas; registered service animals are excepted with valid ID.
Awards and services: overall winners and age-division medals are awarded in both races. Paid participants receive a custom event T-shirt, participation medal, refreshments, and a prize drawing ticket. 5K and 10K entrants also receive official chipped timing, downloadable finisher certificates, and finish line photos. The event raises funds and awareness to support completion and enhancement of trails and wildlife corridors in the Stevens Creek watershed.
