Course and event features
The courses begin along the abandoned Northern Pacific Railroad and Milwaukee Railroad grades, tracking from Mullan, Idaho and ending in St. Regis, Montana. The 50-mile route begins near the historic state line, crosses two historical train trestles, and passes through a railroad tunnel. The final sections run alongside the St. Regis River and finish at St. Regis Community Park. Post-finish activities include visiting, music, and free food and beer.
Entry items, proceeds and sanctioning
All participants receive a t-shirt. Individual 50-mile finishers registered on or before April 1 are eligible to receive a finisher’s jacket; registrations after April 1 are not guaranteed a jacket. Proceeds support trail improvements, the surrounding community, and an annual scholarship. The event is organized in part by St. Regis Community Center and USDA Forest Service Lolo National Forest, Superior Ranger District, and it is sanctioned by USA Track & Field.
