Durham Coastal Half Marathon
The Durham Coastal Half Marathon is an off-road trail race held on 27 June 2027, starting and finishing at Noses Point, Seaham, County Durham. The course follows the Durham Coastal Path and includes cliff-top coastal sections, gently undulating terrain and a series of steep descents and ascents through several denes. There is a woodland section through Hawthorn Dene nature reserve and approximately 320 steps on route. The course distance is about 13.1 miles and was measured using GPS. Total ascent is 1608 feet and total descent is 1654 feet.
The route is fully marked and marshalled, and runners are responsible for their own navigation. There are two checkpoints on the course; sweets and water are available at checkpoints, with additional drinks and snacks at the finish. The race has medical cover; first aid is available at checkpoints and the start/finish area includes a paramedic and ambulance. A free shuttle bus runs from the finish back to the start and event parking is provided.
Timing and results are electronic, with instant online results provided. All finishers receive a bespoke medal; event photography is available and event t-shirts can be purchased. Mandatory kit includes shoes suitable for the ground conditions. The event must be completed within a four hour cut off. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
