Durham Coastal Half Marathon
The Durham Coastal Half Marathon is an entirely off-road event taking place along the Durham Coastal Path. The course covers approximately 13.1 miles (measured via GPS) and features a total ascent of 1608 feet and a descent of 1654 feet.
The route is characterized by undulating sections along the cliff top coastal path. Runners encounter a series of denes that involve steep descents and ascents, including approximately 320 steps. A portion of the course also passes through the woodland of the Hawthorn Dene nature reserve.

The route is fully marked and taped, with marshals positioned at key points. Registration is located at Noses Point in Seaham, and free event parking is provided at Spectrum Business Park. A free shuttle bus is available to transport runners from the finish line back to the starting and parking area.
The race has a strict cut-off time of 4 hours. There are two checkpoints along the course providing water and sweets. Participants are required to wear shoes suitable for the ground conditions and must carry any mandatory kit specified during the race briefing.
