Washington Trail 5k
The Washington Trail 5k is part of the Urban Trail Series organised by Trail Outlaws. The event is a 5 km trail race that runs around James Steel Park and along woodland trails beside the River Wear. The course features an ascent of 357 feet and a descent of 317 feet, and it is marked and marshalled throughout.
Entries include a bespoke medal and race memento, electronic race timing and instant online results provided by TOTS, feed stations with water and sweets, medical cover, free event parking and digital photography. A race t shirt is available to purchase. The published entry price is GBP 18.00.
There is one checkpoint on the course passed at approximately 0.5 miles and 2.5 miles where sweets and water are available. Water is also provided at the finish. The race must be completed within a two hour cut off.
Race registration and parking are at Saint Robert of Newminster School, Biddick Lane, Washington, Tyne and Wear NE38 8AF. Mandatory kit includes shoes suitable for the ground conditions. Competitors must carry required equipment, keep their bib visible, log their number with marshals at checkpoints and take responsibility for navigation. Dogs are not allowed. Earphone use is restricted at road crossings, checkpoints, when a marshal is present and on narrow single file sections. Littering or breach of race rules may result in disqualification.
