Trail Camp for Big Kids
Trail Camp for Big Kids is an adults only long weekend camp near Robbinsville, NC, held at Rattler Ford Group Campground in the Nantahala National Forest. The program focuses on team building, navigation, community service, friendship, and running. It welcomes runners and non runners and is described as a low pressure weekend where participants may run as much or as little as they choose.
Planned activities include group runs on local trails, shared campfire time, and informal social activities. Organizers will offer some breakfasts but campers should plan to bring most of their own food and any necessary special dietary items. The site has bathrooms, showers, and running water. There is limited parking; carpooling is recommended because overflow parking may be 10 to 12 miles away at the Nantahala headquarters. Trails used during the weekend can be overgrown, wet, and lightly marked so participants are advised to carry bug spray, navigation tools, and an adventure buddy unless they are comfortable running alone. Camping gear should include a tent car or hammock since RVs are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
