Track Race Series Overview
The Track Race Series is a collection of athletics events organized by Ryde Harriers at the Sandown running track. Part of the club's summer programming, the series features one event per month from late spring through early autumn. Races are held on a track located behind The Bay CE School at the Fairway Sandown.
The series is open to members of Ryde Harriers and guests from other island clubs. If participant numbers are sufficient, organizers form multiple heats for each distance, seeded according to participants' estimated finish times. Participants are expected to wear club vests or t-shirts during the competition.
Available Distances
The series includes various track distances throughout the season:
- 1 mile
- 3,000m
- 5,000m
- 10,000m (including the IOW Championship)
- 4x400m Relay
Participation and Regulations
Age restrictions apply to specific distances in accordance with UKA rules. The 1 mile and 4x400m relay are open to all ages, while the 3,000m requires participants to be at least 13 years old. The 5,000m is open to those 15 and over, and the 10,000m is for runners aged 17 and over.
Race numbers are distributed from a trackside cabin on the evening of the event. While registration is primarily handled through an online portal to facilitate seeding, entry on the day is also permitted. The venue provides facilities including toilets and free parking for participants and supporters. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
