Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge (2 - 3 May 2026)
The Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge is scheduled for 2 - 3 May 2026 with registration open. The event is based at Chale basecamp and can host up to 2,000 participants. Routes follow the coastal path along the southern cliffs, pass the Needles, visit Cowes and Ventnor, and return to Chale for some distances. The organiser provides covered rest stops, catering, medical and massage teams, route signage and GPS tracking. There are camping packages, shuttle transfers and parking at key venues. Finishers receive a medal, a finisher T‑shirt and a glass of fizz.
Challenge options and key facts
- 106 km - Full continuous clockwise, Chale > Chale, ~1800 m climb.
- Full 2‑day 106 km - Split over two days, Cowes overnight option, ~52 km + 54 km.
- 82 km - 3/4 Challenge, Chale > Culver Down, ~1300 m climb.
- 52 km - 1st Half, Chale > Cowes, ~900 m climb.
- 54 km - 2nd Half, Cowes > Chale, ~900 m climb.
- 50 km - Southern 50 loop, Chale > Chale, ~1025 m climb.
- 25 km - Quarter challenges, two route options.
- 10 miles - Medina Challenge, Cowes > Cowes, estuary route.
Options include walking, jogging or running; a Solo Challenger start option; an Ultra March category for walkers aiming at target times; and a Trailblazerz category for faster competitive runners.
