About the race
The Portsmouth Pretty Muddy 5k is an obstacle event on Southsea Common in Portsmouth (Clarence Esplanade, PO5 3NT) organised by Cancer Research UK. The course is described as flat and runs around Southsea Common, with views of Ladies Mile and the Portsmouth Naval Memorial. The start and finish are on the grass by Serpentine Road. The organiser staggers start waves every 15 minutes to manage numbers on the course.
The route includes mud and obstacles that involve climbing, crawling and sliding. Marshals are on site to assist at obstacles. The event notes that, due to the nature of Pretty Muddy, it is not wheelchair accessible and the start and finish areas are on grass that may become soft or muddy in wet weather.
