Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor's 5K Run/Walk (October 17, 2026)
The event is a community 5K run/walk and wheelchair event held in Oyster Bay at the Oyster Bay Community Center in Townsend Square. It serves as the kickoff event for the 2026 Oyster Festival and is administered by the Town of Oyster Bay Department of Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Greater Long Island Running Club. The race is sanctioned by USATF-Long Island and counts for individual and team scoring in the USATF-LI Grand Prix.
The beneficiary is The Life Enrichment Center at Oyster Bay, which provides services to help older adults stay active, healthy and engaged. Amenities include finisher medals, a commemorative sweatshirt, food and refreshments, a live DJ, free finish-line photos, a downloadable finisher certificate, electronic and age-graded timing, and a roving photographer. Personalized bibs are available for those who register three weeks in advance.
Awards are given to top overall and age-group finishers, masters and senior masters, wheelchair finishers, and top Town of Oyster Bay residents; age-group medals and plaques are listed for various categories. The Runner’s Edge Long Island Championship Challenge offers cash gift-card prizes for eligible Nassau or Suffolk County residents. Registration fees vary by period and category; children 16 and under receive a 50% discount and certain discounts apply for veterans, seniors, GLIRC members and elitefeats members. Race fees are non-refundable; a purchase-protection option is offered for an additional fee. Day-of packet pickup is available at the Oyster Bay Community Center.
