5K Celebration : Confidence through accomplishment
Girls on the Run Long Island concludes each season with a celebratory 5K held at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY on December 5, 2026. The event is designed as a noncompetitive, end of season celebration that gives program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. All program participants receive a commemorative medal.
The course length is 5K (3.1 miles) and the event is held rain or shine; refunds are not provided if the event is cancelled or if an individual cannot attend. Program participants enrolled in the fall season do not need to register separately. Community runners and running buddies may register and fee tiers vary by registration date.
Safety and accessibility measures include required race bibs for every participating runner, an assigned running buddy for each participant, course monitoring with cyclists following the last runner, designated accessible parking, and an ambulance on site as required by park authorities. Staff and volunteers receive training as part of the council safety plan.
The event includes additional on-site activities such as face painting, bling your bib, happy hair stations, and a GOTR Village with pre-run activities. Merchandise sold at the event includes hot pink superhero capes and limited GOTR branded items while supplies last. Volunteer roles support set up and break down, registration, water and cheer stations, spirit runners, GOTR Village activities, and refreshments.
