Girls on the Run Long Island 5K Celebration
The Girls on the Run Long Island 5K is a season closing celebratory event held on December 5, 2026, at Eisenhower Park, 1899 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, NY. The event marks the end of a program season and provides participants with a tangible sense of accomplishment. Every program participant receives a commemorative medal.
The 5K course is 3.1 miles and the event is noncompetitive and untimed. Participants may walk, run, roll or skip at their own pace. While the fastest participants can complete the course in about 25 minutes, most finish between 30 and 50 minutes.
Program participants registered in the season do not need to register separately for the 5K. Community members, family and other runners may register; registration fees vary by date, with lower early registration pricing and a higher day of registration fee. The event is held rain or shine and refunds are not provided if the event is cancelled or a registrant cannot attend.
Accessibility and safety measures include designated parking, a course suitable for participants using mobility devices, mandatory race bibs, assigned running buddies, course monitoring with cyclists after the last runner, trained staff and volunteers, and an ambulance on site. Volunteer roles include set up and break down, registration, water stations, cheer stations, spirit runners, GOTR Village activities and refreshments. Additional on site activities include face painting, bling your bib, happy hair stations and merchandise sales such as hot pink superhero capes.
