About the race
Girls on the Run Long Island concludes its season with a celebratory 5K at Eisenhower Park on December 5, 2026. The event is the season closing activity for program participants and offers a tangible goal for teams who prepared during the program. Program participants receive a commemorative medal.
The 5K is held rain or shine; if the course is deemed unsafe by Nassau County Parks, Public Safety and GOTR staff the event may be cancelled and no refunds are issued. Program participants do not need to register separately. Family members and community runners may participate but must register and sign liability waivers. Animals are not allowed in the park event space.
Safety measures include race bibs for all runners, a designated running buddy for each participant, course monitoring with cyclists following the last runner, trained staff and volunteers with an emergency plan, and an ambulance on site as required by Nassau County Parks. The course is described as accessible for people with disabilities and designated parking is available.
The event also includes noncompetitive, celebratory activities such as face painting, bling your bib, happy hair stations, and merchandise sales including hot pink superhero capes and limited GOTR branded items. Volunteers support set up, registration, water and cheer stations, spirit runners, GOTR Village activities, refreshments and course monitoring.
