Girls on the Run Long Island 5K Celebration
The Girls on the Run Long Island 5K is a season-closing celebratory event held on Saturday, December 5, 2026 at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, NY. The event centers on a 5K course (3.1 miles) and is designed to give program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment; every participant in the program receives a commemorative medal.
Registration is required for family members and community runners, while program participants do not need to register. Registration fees vary by date and range from $30 to $40. All registrations include liability waivers. The event is held rain or shine and refunds are not issued if the event is cancelled or if a registrant cannot attend.
Safety and accessibility measures are in place: every participant must wear a race bib, each participant is paired with a running buddy, designated parking is available, and the council monitors the course with cyclists following the last runner. An ambulance will be on site as required by Nassau County Parks. Animals are not permitted in the park event space.
The 5K includes community activities such as face painting, bling your bib, happy hair stations, a GOTR Village with pre-run activities, and on-site merchandise and refreshments.
