Touws 9km Circuit Hike & Row
This event combines a circular land route and a canoe outing in Wilderness, Western Cape, with Fairy Knowe as the venue. The hike covers 9 km with about 70 m of elevation gain and typically takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. The trail runs through forest and alongside the river and passes Wilderness Beach, where dolphin and whale sightings are possible.
After the hike participants paddle on the Touw River toward the river mouth in canoes equipped with large splash proof buckets suitable for cameras, snacks and daypacks. The event package includes SANParks conservation fees, canoe rental and a guided experience. The listed cost is R450 per person.
The morning concludes with a shared lunch at Fairy Knowe Hotel. Venture Butik is the listed organiser.
Participants are required to carry a basic emergency kit. Recommended items include a suitable lightweight hydration pack or backpack, 1 to 2 litres of water, sunscreen, a hat, shoes suitable for hiking or beach, trail snacks, a lightweight windproof jacket or fleece, and, depending on weather, a beanie and gloves.
