19th Tour des Marches Challenge Walk
The event is a way-marked walk held on 12 September 2026 from Wistanstow Village Hall. The route runs through southwest Shropshire and much of the day is inside the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The course is undulating and visits the towns of Clun and Bishop's Castle.
Distances offered:
- 12 miles Wistanstow to Clun
- 18 miles Wistanstow to Bishop's Castle
- 26 miles circular route via Clun and Bishop's Castle
Entry is limited to 150 places and further entries are placed on a waiting list; there are no entries on the day. Minimum age is 14 and under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Entry fees are listed as £15 for LDWA members and £20 for non‑members.
Facilities and support include snack breakfast included in the entry fee, snacks and drinks at all checkpoints, toilets at two main checkpoints, a hot meal at the finish with vegetarian and vegan options, maps and route descriptions, certificates and a finishers list. Full support and transport are provided for retirees and for those on the 12 and 18 mile routes. Participants should carry equipment suitable for the duration of their walk and predicted weather.
