Tour de Trail: Lexington Lake, DeSoto KS
Tour de Trail: Lexington Lake is a trail race organized by Team Sparkle at Lexington Lake in DeSoto, KS. The event is part of the Tour de Trail series, which stages six trail races across the summer and aims to use local trail systems. Individual race registration is $50, with $5 from each entry donated to Urban Trail Co to support trail building and maintenance. A discounted price is offered for registration to all six races if completed by the series deadline.
The course is in the 10K range; stages in the series typically vary between about 5.5 and 6.5 miles depending on trail conditions. The event is cupless: aid stations provide water only and participants must carry their own hydration device such as a handheld or vest. Cold fizzy water, soda, and light snacks will be available at the finish area. Participants are allowed up to four hours to complete the course.
Course markings use distinctive flagging and will be described at the pre race briefing. Some races include road crossings; runners are responsible for their own safe crossings and should yield to other trail users. Dogs are permitted on leash with mandatory cleanup. Poles and alcohol in the park are prohibited. Podiums are awarded for first through third in woman, man, and non-binary categories, and all finishers receive a handmade stage-specific award and a sticker.
