Event Information
The Tour de Trail: Lexington Lake is a 10k trail running event in DeSoto, Kansas. It is part of the six-race Tour de Trail summer series held on different trails in the Kansas City area.
Course and Participation
The race distance is described as being "in the 10kish range," typically between 5.5 and 6.5 miles. The course may be adjusted in case of trail closures due to weather, with potential alternate routes using cross-country, equestrian, or paved trails. The event welcomes both runners and hikers, with a 4-hour time allowance to finish. Parks and roads remain open during the race, and participants are responsible for their own safety at any road crossings.
Aid and Rules
The aid station provides water only. The event is cupless, so participants must bring their own hydration device (like a handheld bottle or vest) to receive water. There will be cold drinks and light snacks at the finish line. Key rules include: no littering, no trekking poles (except by prior approval), dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after, and personal music devices are allowed only with headphones (no speakers). The course must be followed as marked.
Registration and Awards
Registration for a single race is $50, with $5 from each entry donated to the local trail organization Urban Trail Co. Race-day registration is available at a higher fee. All participants receive a race-specific sticker and a handmade finisher's award. Podium awards are given for the top three women, men, and non-binary participants. Participants who complete all six races in the series receive a special finisher's award. The event also partners with the Trail Mix Fund, which can waive registration fees for eligible applicants.
