Shawnee Mission Triathlon and Duathlon
The event takes place at Shawnee Mission Park, a 1,250-acre urban refuge that includes the Mill Creek Streamway Trail with asphalt pathways along the stream and through hillside forests. Race formats include multiple triathlon distances, a duathlon, and relay divisions for two and three person teams.
Course options include:
- Triathlon - Olympic: 1500 meter swim, 27 mile bike, 6.1 mile run
- Triathlon - Long: 1000 meter swim, 18 mile bike, 4.5 mile run
- Triathlon - Short: 500 meter swim, 9 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
- Triathlon - Super Sprint: 200 meter swim, 4.5 mile bike, 2.25 mile run
- Duathlon: 3.1 mile run, 13.5 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
The duathlon begins on the main park road near the check-in area. Run segments use the main park road and the Mill Creek Streamway Trail; the first run is a counterclockwise loop and the second run follows the same loop clockwise. The bike segment is three laps on the main park road.
The event is USA Triathlon sanctioned and designated Paratriathlon Friendly by the USA Triathlon Paratriathlon Committee with an Individual Adaptive Open Division available. The Short Course and Olympic races serve as the Kansas State Championship with the top 35% of finishers qualifying for USA Triathlon Nationals. Athena and Clydesdale divisions are offered with weight and age category rules and mutual exclusivity with age group divisions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
