Shawnee Mission Triathlon and Duathlon
The Shawnee Mission Triathlon and Duathlon take place at Shawnee Mission Park in Lenexa, Kansas, and use park roads and the Mill Creek Streamway Trail through woodland and along the stream. The event includes multiple race options and relay divisions, and it is designated as the USA Triathlon Kansas State Championship for qualifying athletes.
Course options include:
- Olympic Triathlon: 1500 meter swim, 27 mile bike, 6.1 mile run
- Long Triathlon: 1000 meter swim, 18 mile bike, 4.68 mile run
- Short Triathlon: 500 meter swim, 9 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
- Super Sprint Triathlon: 200 meter swim, 4.5 mile bike, 2.25 mile run
- Duathlon: 3.1 mile run, 13.5 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
New for 2027, swim cut-off times will be enforced: 30 minutes for Long Course and 45 minutes for Olympic Course; athletes who miss swim cut-offs cannot continue. All athletes must maintain a minimum bike pace of 12 miles per hour or they will be removed from the bike course.
The event is designated as Paratriathlon friendly; adaptive athletes register under the Individual Adaptive Open Division. Triathlon divisions include Athena and Clydesdale categories with minimum weights of 165 pounds for women and 220 pounds for men, split into under 40 and 40 and over age groups.
Packet pickup is scheduled the Friday and Saturday before the event at local locations. Per USA Triathlon rules, athletes must present photo ID to receive a packet; alternate arrangements for ID and authorized pickup are described by the organizer.
