Tour de Gourd
Returning for the second year, Tour de Gourd features a 5K run and a 3K walk that pass pumpkin displays in downtown Damariscotta and Newcastle and then loop through leafy back streets. The route includes a downhill final kilometer that leads to the giant pumpkin on Elm Street Plaza.
The initial segment goes through the downtown area with a road closure on Main Street. The remainder of each route uses quieter back streets that remain open to traffic. The run route doubles back partway while the walk continues straight to the finish. The finish is in downtown Damariscotta, about 0.25 miles from the start.
Event timing and format details:
- 5K chip timed run; downtown start and finish, route through quiet back streets.
- 3K untimed walk; just under 2 miles, about 40 minutes to complete.
