Event Overview
This is the Bath at Play Spring Colors 5k and Half-k Color Run. It is an annual event. The 2026 edition will be held on Sunday, May 17, in Bridge Park in Bath, Maine. This is the event's second year.
Race Format
The event features two un-timed, non-competitive color runs. The 5k is an out-and-back course through downtown Bath. The Half-k is a shorter loop along the waterfront, designed for children; participants can complete multiple loops. The 5k runners start first, allowing them to finish and reunite with younger participants. Volunteers scatter along both courses to apply colored powder to runners.
Registration Details
Registration can be completed online. There is an early-bird registration period from March 1 through April 15, 2026. On race day, registration and check-in opens at 7:30 AM at Bridge Park. Day-of registration is available but pre-registration is strongly encouraged to help the event start on time. Adult registration (18+) is $35 and child registration (0-17) is $10. Families with three or more registrants receive an automatic $5 discount per person.
Participant Information
The event proceeds support Bath at Play's mission to expand dynamic and inclusive play in Maine. The colored powder is made from food-grade cornstarch and biodegradable pigments. Limited edition Bath at Play t-shirts are available for purchase, with pre-ordering recommended during registration. The first 100 sign-ups receive a pair of sunglasses.
Course & Logistics
Both courses use paved streets or sidewalks and are designated as stroller-friendly. Bicycles are not allowed on the course for safety. Dogs are permitted but will likely get colored powder on them. Parking is available along Washington Street and at a permit lot adjacent to the Bath Police Department. The event has a rain date policy; if significant rain is forecast for May 17, it will be rescheduled. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
