Tough Topanga : Topanga State Park, June 20, 2026
Tough Topanga is a trail running event held at Topanga State Park, Trippet Ranch. It offers multiple distances on rugged mountain trails through oak forest and chaparral with sandstone features, valley vistas, and views toward the San Gabriel Mountains and the Pacific Ocean.
Distances and basic stats:
- 15k: 9.23 miles, 1,780' vert, Garapito singletrack
- 10k: 6.24 miles, 1,198' vert, classic fire road route
- Kids 1k: 0.56 miles, 143' vert
- Hiker's Delight: non-timed entry with access to aid stations and event swag
The courses include marked fire roads, sections of singletrack, several climbs and descents, and a timed final mile called the Downhill Mile with a cash bonus for the fastest male and female splits. Overall awards, age-group awards, and a Local Legend award for the fastest Topanga local are part of the prize structure. Prize payouts include per-place awards for the 10k and winner payouts for the 15k and the Downhill Mile.
Event services include chip timing with same-day results, professionally marked courses, staffed aid stations, on-course medical support, post-race sports massage, finisher medals and shirts, breakfast options, a beer garden for 21+, and free next-day race photography. Free off-site parking with shuttles is available on Topanga Canyon Boulevard; limited on-site parking is offered through the event registration system.
