Tough Topanga is a trail running event organized by SoCalTrail at Topanga State Park, Trippet Ranch (20828 Entrada Road, Topanga, CA). Routes run through oak forest and chaparral with sandstone cliffs, valley vistas, and views of the San Gabriel mountains and the Pacific Ocean. The event is cupless.
Distances:
- 15k Trail : 9.23 miles, 1,780' vert
- 10k Trail : 6.24 miles, 1,198' vert
- Hiker’s Delight : non-timed, full aid station access
- Jr (under 13 only) : Kids 1k, 0.56 miles, 143' vert
The 15k and 10k courses follow fire roads and singletrack with significant climbing and a final timed Downhill Mile section that carries a cash bonus for the fastest male and female splits. Both main distances have overall and age-group awards across multiple categories; prize purses are listed for the 10k and 15k, and additional event bonuses are offered.
The event provides marked courses, chip timing with same-day results, staffed aid stations, professional medical coverage at aid stations, certified sports massage, finish-line announcers and a post-race festival area with beverage options. Off-site parking with shuttle service is provided; on-site parking capacity at Trippet Ranch is limited and accepts card or app payments.
