TOUGH SHEEP - January 23 - 24, 2026

TOUGH SHEEP takes place at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in Reno, NV. The event spans two days and features two main workouts: the TOUGH SHEEP Hunt Giveaway Workout on January 23 and the TOUGH SHEEP Pro Competition Workout on January 24. The Hunt Giveaway Workout is capped at 510 participants and is organized into 30-person waves. Waves may be sponsored by brands, and brands can offer benefits to members of their wave. The Hunt Workout emphasizes completion over competition and is designed to simulate the physical and mental demands of a sheep hunt.

Prizes, format and purpose

Finishers of the Hunt Workout are entered to win a 10-day Dall's Sheep hunt in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge with a hunt window from August 10 to September 20, 2026. The winner must be present to claim the prize and is responsible for travel, supplies and gratuity. The Pro Competition Workout is an open-capacity, strictly judged and timed event inspired by HYROX and tailored for backcountry athletes. The top male and top female each receive either $2,500 cash or $3,000 floor credit. TOUGH SHEEP lists additional prizes and raffle items for finishers. The event supports wild sheep conservation; 2025 fundraising reached $50,000 for the Wild Sheep Foundation and the 2026 goal is to raise more.
