Rattlesnake Mountain Challenge
The Rattlesnake Mountain Challenge is a trail running event at Huffaker Hills and Rattlesnake Mountain in Reno, Nevada, held on December 26, 2026. The course is entirely on trail and includes an in-person 5k and a virtual 5k option.
Available distances:
- 5k
- Virtual 5k (3.1 miles)
Race registration includes a long sleeve performance shirt. The event is sanctioned by USA Track and Field and will be officially timed, with results posted online after the race. Emergency medical services will be provided by REMSA.
Packet pickup takes place at the Huffaker Hills Trailhead at 4400 Alexander Lake Road on Friday, December 25 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm and Saturday, December 26 from 7:00 to 8:30 am.
Parking at the Huffaker Hills Trailhead is limited. Once on-site parking is full, volunteers will direct participants to park at the Longley Town Center parking lot at 5260 Longley Lane. A shuttle service will run from that lot to the starting area using a 15 passenger van; the shuttle departs every 15 minutes or when the van is full.
The event serves as a fundraiser for the Azteca FC youth cross country and track program to support athletes who qualify for national competition. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
