TWO TURTLE DOVES
Two Turtle Doves is a Boxing Day fell race starting from Totley AC Pavilion by The Cricket Inn, Lane Head Road, S17. Entry costs £8 plus a £1 booking fee. All proceeds go to Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust and Help for Heroes. The event is open to entrants aged 18 and over and offers pre‑entry and on the day entry.
The route is 7.8 km with 270 metres of ascent and is classed as a BS category race. The course begins with a lap of the cricket pitch and continues along Strawberry Lee Lane. Runners face a short sharp climb and steep descent to a stepping stones river crossing, then a longer climb to the Devil’s Elbow and an uphill drag to the top tip of Blacka Moor Woods. The route leaves the woodland onto a rough bridleway dropping into a sheep field, follows lush pasture to a final climb that may be muddy, then extends for about a kilometre across Totley Moor before descending to the finish. A 2024 change means the finish now descends Strawberry Lee Lane followed by a loop of the field. The route uses public rights of way and is partially marked; flags must be followed.
Facilities at the venue include toilets, showers, a pub and limited parking with marshals on duty. Mandatory winter kit is required and may be inspected. Race rules require visible numbers at checkpoints and prohibit dogs on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
