The JAM 5K Run/Walk at East Pete Day
The event is a community 5K run and walk held on a fast, level course through residential East Petersburg. The route begins and ends at the East Petersburg Fire Hall on Pine Street, one block east of Manheim Pike and one block north of State Street. Medals are awarded to top finishers in each age and gender group, and overall top three finishers in the male and female divisions receive prize money of $200, $100, and $50.
The event supports a local nonprofit, the Joy Among Mourning Foundation, and raises funds for chosen beneficiaries. Proceeds will benefit Hempfield High School graduates pursuing higher education, the Dravet Syndrome Foundation, and 521 Club, Inc. The foundation was established in memory of a local resident who died in an automobile accident, with the stated aim of bringing hope and connection to those experiencing loss.
Registration details include an entry fee of $25 for the 5K. Walk-up registrations are accepted Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on race morning starting at 7:00 a.m. at the Community Building on Pine Street. A separate kids fun run is part of the day as an additional youth activity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
