March For The Fallen
The March for the Fallen is an annual event hosted at Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville, Pennsylvania. This event provides an opportunity for military and civilian participants to honor service members. The courses are set within the training lands of Fort Indiantown Gap and transition across various terrains, including asphalt roads and mountain trails composed of dirt and gravel.
The long-distance routes involve significant elevation changes. The course begins at an elevation of 500.77 feet, reaches a low point of 484.28 feet within the first mile, and climbs to a peak of 1239.43 feet on Second Mountain in the Appalachian Mountain Range. The event takes place rain or shine, and all participants must complete their respective courses by 6:00 p.m.
The following distances and categories are available:
- 28 Mile Ruck (Heavy and Light)
- 14 Mile Ruck (Heavy and Light)
- 28 Mile Hand Cycle
- 3.1 Mile (5k) Run or Walk
- Virtual 5k
Participants in the Heavy categories are required to carry a rucksack or pack weighing at least 35 lbs, with mandatory weigh-ins conducted on the morning of the event. To qualify for awards in the Light categories, a minimum 10 lb ruck is required. Manual timing is used for the races, and bibs must be displayed on the participant's back at all times for safety. Spectators are permitted at the Community Club but are not allowed along the march routes. Entry to the base requires a valid ID, and personal drones and pets are prohibited.
