Tortoise Trot Trail Run
The Tortoise Trot Trail Run takes place within the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event utilizes courses that start and finish at the Visitor Center, providing participants with views of the canyon and the Southern Nevada landscape. All proceeds from the event support the preservation and protection of public lands through the Friends of Red Rock Canyon.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- 5k Trail Run/Walk (3.1 miles)
- Tortoise Trail Run (10.5 miles / 17k)
- Virtual 5k
The 5k Trail Run/Walk follows the Moenkopi Loop. The terrain is a combination of paved road and trail segments. This distance is open to both runners and walkers. Children between the ages of 5 and 11 are required to be accompanied by an adult. This specific event is limited to 300 total participants.
The 17k Tortoise Trail Run is an event restricted to runners only. The course consists of rugged desert trails and sections of the scenic drive. This route has a time limit of 3 hours for completion. Participation for this distance is limited to 50 runners.
For both in-person events, jogging strollers and dogs are not permitted on the course. These runs are not officially timed. A virtual option is also available for those who wish to complete a 5k distance at a location of their choice by the event date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
