Tortoise Trot Trail Run
This event takes place at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area in Las Vegas, Nevada, on October 10, 2026. The event offers three activities: a 5k Trail Run/Walk, a 17K Tortoise Trail Run, and a Virtual 5k.
The 5k Trail Run/Walk is a scenic course that is part road and part trail, encompassing the Moenkopi loop. It starts and finishes at the Visitor Center and offers a 360-degree view. The event is not timed and is limited to 300 participants. It is open to the whole family, though participants aged 5 to 11 must be accompanied by an adult. No jogging strollers or dogs are permitted on the course.
The Tortoise Trail Run (17K) is a longer trail run also starting and finishing at the Visitor Center. It features rugged desert trails, portions of the scenic drive, and expansive views. This event is for runners only (no walking) and is not timed, but participants have a 3-hour time limit to finish. Participation is limited to 50 runners.
All participants must take a free shuttle from the West Career and Technical Academy to the event site, as there is no participant parking at Red Rock Canyon. Packet pickup is available the day before at REI in Boca Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
