Tortoise Trot Trail Run
The event takes place at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and uses the Visitor Center as the start and finish location. Courses combine paved sections and natural trails and include portions of the Moenkopi Loop and the scenic drive, offering wide views of Red Rock Canyon.
The program includes multiple options:
- 3.1 miles 5K Trail Run and Walk
- 10.5 miles Tortoise Trail Run (17K)
- 3.1 miles Virtual 5K
The 5K is a mixed road and trail route that offers 360 degree views and is open to walkers and runners. Participants aged 5 to 11 must be accompanied by an adult. The 5K field is limited to 300 participants. No on-course jogging strollers or dogs are permitted.
The Tortoise Trail Run is a runners only course that follows rugged desert trails and segments of the scenic drive. The event is not timed, but participants are expected to complete the course within a three hour time limit. The field for this course is limited to 50 runners. No jogging strollers or dogs are permitted.
The Virtual 5K allows participants to run or walk the distance at any location by the event date. Medals will be mailed to virtual participants and the event acknowledges virtual supporters of Friends of Red Rock Canyon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
