The course begins at roughly 4,500 feet elevation and passes through high desert vegetation, including Joshua trees, pinyon juniper, mountain rose, and sagebrush. The route follows paved canyon roads with rolling and gradually uphill terrain.
Distances offered:
- 5K
- 10K
- 1/2 Marathon
- Marathon
- 50K
All distances run on paved Lovell Canyon Road. The half marathon turns around near mile 6.55 and retraces the same paved route. The 10K and 5K have defined turnarounds near miles 3.1 and 1.55 respectively. The 50K is entirely paved, includes multiple out and back segments along the canyon road, and records roughly 2,400 feet of total climbing with a net zero elevation gain. The marathon shares portions of the same paved route.
Aid stations are positioned at multiple mile marks and provide water and energy drink in cups; staff will refill personal bottles. Aid stations designated ultra will carry energy gels and additional provisions. Portable toilets are available at the start and finish and at several on course locations. 50K runners may use one drop bag accessed at mile 26.2. Packet pickup is race day only.
The event is held under a special use permit on federal land. Registration items include a technical shirt, a finishers medal, post race food, aid station support, and eligibility for overall and age group awards. Parking may be at or near the start or at an off site lot with shuttle service depending on field size, and primitive camping without facilities is available at the venue.
