Sprint Relays, Cwmbran
The Sprint Relays is a team relay held on Wednesday 17th June 2026 at North Fields Recreation Grounds, Cwmbran NP44 2JJ. The 2026 edition introduces chip timing. The event uses car free park paths and a measured loop around the park.
Teams of four each run one lap of the course. The course is an anti clockwise loop of about 1.96 miles on flat tarmac. The overall format is a four by two mile style relay with a marked transition zone for handovers.
There are senior and veteran categories with combined age limits for team classification. Senior categories include Male, Female and Mixed teams with specified combined age thresholds. Veteran categories include Vet Male, Vet Female and Vet Mixed with higher combined age thresholds. Awards are presented after the last finisher and there are cash prizes linked to breaking the current individual records for fastest male and fastest female, plus additional spot prizes donated by a sponsor.
Practical information provided by the organiser notes limited parking on site with alternative parking at Cwmbran Station and town centre public car parks. Race numbers must be worn on the front and team numbers are collected by team managers. Runners must run in the declared order, exchange the red wristband in the transition zone, wear club colours where appropriate, and not wear headphones.
