About the race
Swim Bike Run Torbay is a recurring community event at Torbay Velopark in Paignton, Devon. Registration is required. The format uses a pool swim, a smooth velopark bike on flat tarmac and a grass and gravel parkland run. The bike and run courses are lapped so participants can choose how many laps to complete on the day.
The event is open to all ages and abilities, with no upper age limit. Families are encouraged: children from six years old may take part provided they can swim at least 25 m. A mini tri option is available for younger children who meet the 25 m swim requirement and meet the age condition for that category. In poor weather the organisers may change the format to a duathlon or a reverse triathlon.
Notable event features listed by the organiser include traffic free courses, marked routes, public liability insurance and timing with results. Typical distance categories include:
- Mini Tri: 25 m swim, 1.5 km bike, 650 m run
- Swim Bike Run: 50 m swim, 1.5 km bike, 650 m run
- Tristar 1: 150 m swim, 3 km bike, 1.3 km run
- Tristar 2: 200 m swim, 6 km bike, 2 km run
- Maximum option: 200 m swim, 9 km bike, 2 km run
Parking is available at the leisure centre car park for a fee, with some free parking a short walk away. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
