Torbay Triathlon Relay Autumn : Torbay Velopark
This is an Olympic format team relay triathlon held at Torbay Velopark in Paignton. The event is for competitors aged 13 and over; athletes must be 13 by 31 December of the event year. Entry is by individual registration with a shared team name, and organisers permit free name changes nearer the event to accommodate team changes.
Each relay leg is a full mini triathlon. The swim is run in waves of 12 swimmers, two to a lane. After the swim competitors move into transition and complete four laps of the Velopark on smooth tarmac by bike, followed by a 2km flat parkland run. After finishing the run the competitor returns to the pool area to hand over to the next teammate. All team members complete the same sequence.
Teams require four competitors with a minimum of two female members. All-male teams or teams that are 75 percent male are allowed to compete and will have results published, but such teams are not eligible for prizes. Entry options are offered at different prices, with available offers in the range of £29 to £51.
