The Top of Michigan Festival of Races takes place on Saturday, May 23, 2026, in Petoskey, Michigan. The event includes the following distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10K Run
- 5K Run/Walk
Registration opens December 8, 2025. Early registration fees listed are: Half Marathon $70, 10K $45, and 5K $30. Prices increase on February 15, 2026, and again April 15, 2026. Registration includes refreshments, finisher medals, top male and female awards, and a t-shirt (shirt cutoff May 12).
Course and logistics
Races start and finish at Lime Kiln Kid’s Fishing Pier, Bayfront Park, Petoskey, and use the Little Traverse Wheelway, a non-motorized trail that runs from Charlevoix through Petoskey/Bay Harbor to Harbor Springs. The courses are out-and-back from Petoskey waterfront. The route is mostly paved with some sections on grass and a short section on trail; the 10K and Half Marathon connect into Petoskey State Park. Organizers note a few off-road sections on grass and dirt. The race benefits the Top of Michigan Trails Council and the Petoskey High School Track and Cross Country teams.
Parking options include three public lots along Bayfront Drive, limited spots at Sunset Park, and a portion of Kilwins parking made available for runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
