Top of Michigan Festival of Races
The Top of Michigan Festival of Races is a multi-race event held May 22–23, 2026 in Petoskey, Michigan, with activities that benefit the Top of Michigan Trails Council and the Petoskey High School Track and Cross Country teams. The event base is Bayfront Park at the Lime Kiln Kid's Fishing Pier.
Courses run along the Little Traverse Wheelway, a non-motorized trail that runs from Charlevoix through Petoskey and Bay Harbor to Harbor Springs. The Petoskey courses are out-and-back from the waterfront. Surfaces are mostly paved with a few off-road sections on grass and dirt. The 10k and half marathon include a short trail section that connects into Petoskey State Park.
Distances included in the festival:
- Half Marathon 13.1 Miles
- 10K Run 6.2 Miles
- 5K Run/Walk 3.1 Miles
- Shake Out Run with Asics and Charlevoix Running Company in Charlevoix
Early registration fees listed are $70 for the half marathon, $45 for the 10k, and $30 for the 5k. All races have scheduled price increases on February 15, 2026 and April 15, 2026. Registration items include refreshments, finisher medals, top male and female awards, and a T-shirt with a cut off of May 12.
Parking options are available along Bayfront Drive, a small number of spots at Sunset Park above the bluff, and portions of Kilwins parking lots for runners. The marina parking lot is not for event use. Participants are advised to allow enough time to park and walk to the start line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
