Event Overview
The Top of Michigan Festival of Races takes place in Petoskey, Michigan, offering a series of road and trail running events. The competition supports the Top of Michigan Trails Council as well as local high school track and cross country programs. All participants receive a finisher medal, refreshments, and a t-shirt if registered by the specified cut-off date.
Course Information
The races utilize the Little Traverse Wheelway, a non-motorized path that connects several local communities. For this event, participants follow out-and-back routes starting and ending at the Petoskey waterfront near the Lime Kiln Kid's Fishing Pier in Bayfront Park. The terrain is primarily flat and offers views of the Little Traverse Bay. While the majority of the course is paved, there are specific sections consisting of grass, dirt, and trail. The longer distances also include a segment that connects into the Petoskey State Park.
Available Distances
- Half Marathon: A 13.1 mile out-and-back course on the Little Traverse Wheelway.
- 10K Run: A 6.2 mile multi-surface route including paved path and trail sections.
- 5K Run/Walk: A 3.1 mile flat course starting from the waterfront area.
Logistics
Participants can collect their race packets on the Friday before the event or on race morning at Bayfront Park. Public parking is available in three lots along Bayfront Drive, with additional space at Sunset Park and designated sections of the Kilwins parking lots.
