Event Overview
The Tom O'Reilly Turkey Trot returns for its seventh annual edition on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. This community race takes place in Colonial Park, located in Franklin Township, New Jersey. The event honors the memory of Tom "Dragon" O'Reilly and accepts donations for the RVRR Scholarship Fund.
Participants can choose from multiple running distances held within the park grounds:
- 5 km
- 1 Mile Fun Run
The course is described as flat and fast, beginning and ending within the park. There is one water stop available on the course for participants. Post-race refreshments, including bottled beverages and snacks, are provided at the Knob Hill Pavilion.
Logistics and Participation
Packet pick-up is available locally on the day before the event or at the park on the morning of the race. Parking is strictly limited to Lot B, and participants should enter via the Mettlers Road entrance. Key park roads close shortly before the start times to accommodate the event.
The 5 km race features overall awards for the top three male and female finishers, as well as age group awards ranging from under 15 to over 90. While 5 km participants who register by the early November deadline are guaranteed a race shirt, Fun Run participants receive a participation medal instead of a shirt. Children aged 10 and under can participate in the Fun Run at no cost. The event proceeds regardless of rain, snow, or sunshine. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
