About the race
The Saint James Almost Winter Classic is a community running event held at Pleasant Valley Park (Tobin Heath Field) in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. The event includes a main 5K road race and several youth cross-country races of 2400 m (2.4K) for elementary and middle school competitors.
The event is organized by the Saint James School of Basking Ridge XC Team to provide post cross-country season racing for child and adult athletes in the greater Northern and Central New Jersey area. Professional timing will be provided by CompuScore. Shirts are available for pickup at the park on race day.
Prizes include medals for the top three in each age and gender group and gift certificates for the top three overall male and female finishers from The Sneaker Factory in Basking Ridge (1st $150, 2nd $100, 3rd $75). Age and gender award categories listed by the organizer include Boys 13 and Under, Girls 13 and Under, Boys High School, Girls High School, Men 19-34, Women 19-34, Men 34-49, Women 34-49, Men 50+, and Women 50+.
The event was created by the Saint James XC community in response to limited race opportunities and to support ongoing programming. One hundred percent of proceeds support programming and efforts to make Catholic school education more accessible; donations are accepted.
