TO50 : Self-supported 50 km across Toronto
TO50 is a self-supported 50 km ultramarathon that runs through multiple trails and waterfront sections of Toronto. The route starts on the waterfront, follows the Martin Goodman Trail, continues up the Lower Don River Trail, goes through the Eglinton grind and finishes on the Humber River Trail. The total distance is 50 km through the city.
Organizers provide the GPS route as a GPX file and offer nutrition at an aid station around the 25 km midpoint. Participants are responsible for carrying their own equipment and supplies; outside assistance is not provided except at the halfway aid station.
Key conditions and rules include a US$50 commitment fee that is refunded if the runner finishes within the allowed time, otherwise the fee is retained. There is a 12-hour cutoff. Participants must follow the GPS route, obey all traffic laws, follow Leave No Trace principles, look out for each other, and avoid headphones on roads with traffic. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three finishers: 1st US$300, 2nd US$200, 3rd US$100. The event is limited to 50 participants and the first edition is scheduled for September 5, 2026. No sponsors and no official permission are stated. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
