TMC Saguaro National Park Labor Day 8-Miler and 5k
This event is a set of timed running and walking events held inside Saguaro National Park East in Tucson, Arizona. The course routes run through the cactus forest at the base of the Rincon Mountains and use paved roads with rolling hills. The route offers views of the Rincon Mountains, the Catalina Mountains, and the Tucson basin, and passes typical Sonoran Desert plants such as saguaros, prickly pears, and ocotillos. Wildlife sightings are possible.
Distances offered
- 8 Miles run, clockwise loop with rolling hills
- 5K run or walk, out-and-back on the final portion of the 8-mile course
- 8 Miles walk, for participants expected to be on course more than 2.5 hours; no awards and no racing
Organizers list prizes and awards including course record incentives, age group and overall awards, plus a souvenir shirt for registrants. Race entry is reported to include a day pass into Saguaro National Park; participants with an annual park pass may be able to apply their pass information during registration. The event is produced by the Southern Arizona Roadrunners and supports beneficiaries including the National Park Service, Friends of Saguaro, Southern Arizona Roadrunners, and the Children's Fitness Fund.
