The event features four different races:
- Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Marathon Walkers
- Half Marathon Walkers
Course
The marathon and half marathon take place on a closed, two-lane roadway at Dismal Swamp Trail Park in Chesapeake, Virginia. The full marathon course is USATF certified.
Logistics
The event is part of the Tidewater Striders Spring Running Festival weekend. Early packet pickup is available on Friday at Point 2 Running Company in Chesapeake. Race day packet pickup is in the parking lot near the starting line.
A post-race party with hospitality, refreshments, and an awards ceremony is held onsite. Awards are given for top overall male and female finishers, top masters (ages 40+), and top finishers in 10-year age groups. All finishers receive a custom medal.
Hydration aid stations are provided: four for the half marathon and nine for the marathon, offering water and hydration drinks.
Challenges
Two challenge bundles are offered, combining events from this race with the Striders Dismal Swamp 5 Miler and Kid's 1 Mile event the day before: the Big Bear Challenge (5 miler and full marathon) and the Rattle Snake Challenge (5 miler and half marathon).
