Throo the Zoo 5K
Throo the Zoo 5K is a road race held at the Louisville Zoo (1100 Trevilian Way, Louisville, KY 40213) on May 9, 2026. The course passes through the zoo grounds rather than only around them, offering participants the chance to move through exhibits and see the zoo as it opens.

Packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, May 8 in the bus lot at the Louisville Zoo. A limited packet pick-up is available on race morning; participants should allow enough time to collect bibs and reach the start area.
Registration includes a commemorative cotton t-shirt with an optional upgrade to a technical performance shirt for a fee, a unique finishers medal, post-race refreshments, entry to win door prizes, and a free ticket for a return visit to the zoo. Children in strollers are free but do not receive a t-shirt, race bib, commemorative medal, or free return ticket. Registration prices increase over time, with early registration lower and a higher fee at race start.
The event also runs a costume contest; entrants submit a photo with their runner number on the zoo’s Facebook post and winners receive a prize package and a feature on the event site and social media. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
