Throo the Zoo 5K is scheduled for May 9, 2026 at the Louisville Zoo. The in-person course runs through the zoo grounds rather than around it. There is also a Virtual 5K option.

Registration, fees and included items
Registration opens January 1, 2026. Early pricing schedule listed by the organizer: through January 9 - $30; January 10 to February 28 - $35; March 1 to March 31 - $40; April 1 to May 8 - $45; May 9 (day of event) - $55. All registered participants receive a cotton t-shirt, a finishers medal, post-race refreshments, entry to win door prizes, and a free ticket for a return visit to the zoo. Participants may upgrade to a technical performance shirt for an additional fee. Children in strollers are free but do not receive a t-shirt, race bib, finishers medal, or free return ticket.
Packet pick-up and extras
Packet pick-up is available Friday, May 8 from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm in the bus lot at the Louisville Zoo (1100 Trevilian Way, Louisville, KY 40213). Limited packet pick-up is available on race morning. The event includes a costume contest; participants submit a photo of their costume during or after the run on the zoo’s Facebook post and include their runner number for contest entry. Winners receive a sponsor prize package and will be featured online. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
