Run Through the Louisville Zoo
The Throo the Zoo 5K is a road race held at the Louisville Zoo in Kentucky. Unlike typical events that encircle the property, this course leads participants directly through the zoo grounds. This setup allows runners to observe the animals and the facility as it wakes up in the early morning.
Participants have two primary options for entering the event:
- 5K road race
- Virtual 5K distance
The virtual option allows participants to complete the distance at a location of their own choosing. Those participating in the virtual format receive a race medal and have the option to purchase either a cotton t-shirt or a technical shirt for an additional fee.
Registration for the in-person event opens at the end of December and remains available until early January, while the virtual registration window extends through February. Packet pick-up is organized at the Louisville Zoo bus lot the day before the event, with limited availability on the morning of the race for those unable to attend the Friday session.
