29th Annual Santa Sprint & Stroll 5k
The Santa Sprint & Stroll 5k is a recurring holiday-themed running and walking event held in Louisville, KY. This 29th annual edition takes place at Hogan's Fountain within the Scenic Loop of Cherokee Park. The event serves as a benefit for the work of United Crescent Hill Ministries and is inclusive of both competitive runners and holiday participants.
The event offers two main options for participants:
- 5 km Run/Walk
- Virtual 5 km
The 5 km course follows a scenic route through Cherokee Park. Participants in the in-person event receive a long-sleeve cotton blend shirt (including youth sizes) and a finisher medal. Following the race, refreshments are served, and there are opportunities for photos with Santa. The virtual option allow participants to complete the distance at their own location between December 18 and December 21, with digital results submission and a downloadable finisher certificate.
Age group awards are provided for the top three finishers in several five-year categories, ranging from ages 9 and under to 80 and over. Gift certificates to a local running store are awarded to the top overall male and female finishers.
Parking at the Scenic Loop is limited, and participants are encouraged to carpool or be dropped off. Designated parking areas are available around the loop, though parking on the grass is prohibited. Packet pickup is available on the day prior to the race at a local running store or on the morning of the event at the Stegner Pavilion.
