Event Overview

The SKECHERS Hot Chocolate Run takes place in Louisville, featuring a course that passes through several local landmarks. Participants can choose between three different distances as they run through the downtown area and along the riverfront. The event is professionally timed and managed, with an emphasis on a chocolate-themed experience for all entrants.

The course highlights include Historic Main Street, Waterfront Park, Louisville Slugger Field, and the Yum Center. An Event Alert System (EAS) is used to monitor and communicate course conditions, such as weather-related risks, using color-coded flags ranging from green to black.

Distances and Categories

Participants can register for the following distances:

  • 5 km
  • 10 km
  • 15 km

Overall awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in each distance. Age group awards are also available for various categories ranging from under 14 to 80 and over.

Participant Experience

Every registered runner receives a participant kit which includes a full-zip jacket, a commemorative race bib, and a finisher's medal. Following the race, a post-race party is held at Waterfront Park. This celebration includes music, vendors, and a finisher's mug filled with chocolate fondue, dippables, and hot chocolate.

The event also offers an optional VIP upgrade called the Cocoa Club. This provides amenities such as a dedicated lounge, premium hot cocoa, a hot breakfast item, and preferred corral placement. Free high-resolution race photos are provided to all runners after the event.

Logistics

The event expo and packet pickup are held at Louisville Slugger Field on the day prior to the race. There is no race day packet pickup available, though participants can opt for packet mailing during the registration process for an additional fee. Parking for the expo and the race itself is available at the Louisville Slugger Field parking lot. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
