This ain't your Mothers 50k & Trail Marathon : Middleburg, FL, January 31, 2027
This event offers multiple trail distances on the Pioneer Trail in Jennings State Forest near Middleburg, Florida, organized by Sombrero Running. Distances include:
- 50K
- Trail Marathon
- 12K
- 7K
The Pioneer Trail is mostly single track with diverse terrain. Section 4 is about 2.7 miles and contains some of the most vertical and technical terrain on the course, including vistas overlooking Black Creek. The Marathon follows an out-and-back route beginning at the Dunns Farm Trailhead and includes the Cross Cut section, about 2.5 miles of flat scenic single track, and the southern Section 1, about 2.5 miles to the Indian Ford turnaround. The 50K uses the same Marathon course with added mileage via an out-and-back on the newly added Section 5. Both the 50K and the Marathon have roughly 2,000 feet of elevation gain and loss.
The event is cup less; participants must provide their own hydration. Aid stations are placed approximately every 2.5 to 3 miles and offer water, electrolyte nutrition such as Tailwind or Skratch, and typical ultra race fare. At least one portable toilet will be available at the turnaround/drop bag site and at the start/finish. Packet pickup occurs on race day.
Time limits are set at 11 hours for the 50K and 10 hours for the Marathon with hard cutoffs at the four way on the return. Awards include overall top three in each race category, Masters awards starting at age 50, and a finisher division award for last place. Technical race shirts are provided with a shirt guarantee cutoff date listed as 1/1/25. Entry fees are listed in a range from USD 46.50 to 112.26.
