The Wurst Race : Evansville, IN
The Wurst Race is a community footrace held on August 15, 2026, at Germania Maennerchor, 916 N. Fulton Ave., Evansville, IN. The event features a 5K out-and-back course that starts and finishes at Germania and follows Maryland Street to the Greenway Passage and back along the same route.
Registration fees are tiered: $35 through August 1 and $40 through race day, with a $5 deduction for the no-shirt option. Tultex brand unisex shirts are guaranteed for registrations through July 28; a limited number of extras may be available afterward. A youth shirt is available upon request. Veterans and active duty participants can use code VET5 for a $5 registration discount. Group discount codes are available for four or more registrants; organizers provide details by email.
Each participant receives a brat and, if age 21 or older with valid ID, up to two beers at the finish. Timing is provided by To the Finish Timing. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in age groups from 13 & under through 80 plus. The event is presented with Germania Maennerchor as benefactor.
The race proceeds in rain or shine; in the case of threatening weather the start may be delayed for safety. Parking is available in a nearby gravel lot and on surrounding streets.
