About the race
The Winter Railway Ultra is a multi-distance trail race staged along the River Severn, on a disused railway line between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth, near Coalport, Telford. Runners can choose from 9 miles, 13.1 miles (half marathon), 19 miles (three-quarters marathon), 28 miles, or 37 miles. Each out-and-back lap covers 9.4 miles, with a well-stocked aid station every 4.7 miles.
The course delivers river views and touches of industrial heritage. The event, organized by How Hard Can It Be Events, returns in 2026 and continues to offer a scenic, supportive atmosphere, with HQ behind The Woodbridge Pub and nearby public parking options.
