Event overview
The Winter Railway Ultra is a multi-distance running event that uses a disused railway line along the banks of the River Severn between Ironbridge and Bridgnorth. The route follows the old railway and passes sites related to the area's industrial heritage. The event offers the following distance options:
- 9 miles
- 13.1 miles (Half Marathon)
- 19 miles (3/4 Marathon)
- 28 miles
- 37 miles
Each out-and-back lap measures 9.4 miles. Aid stations are located approximately every 4.7 miles.
Practical information
Race headquarters is on the old railway line behind The Woodbridge Pub, Coalport, Telford, TF8 7JF. There is a 7 hour cut off for the event. Parking is a 10 minute walk from the HQ at Coalport China Museum and Coalport YHA; charges apply at those locations. Several pubs and the Coalport YHA lie within about 1 mile of the start for those staying locally.
