The Wingham Run

The Wingham Run is a long-standing event in the east Kent countryside, now reaching its 39th year. The race is known for providing participants with handmade clay medals produced by Canterbury Pottery, featuring a distinct piggy design. The event starts and finishes at the Wingham Recreation Ground, where an event village is established for participants and their families.

The course follows a particularly scenic route along quiet country roads, passing through several small villages in Kent. The route is officially measured and described as undulating, featuring some inclines and hills throughout the course. Despite the terrain, the course has historically produced fast finishing times.

Participants can choose from the following distances:

  • 10 km
  • 5.4 km

The event is held under UK Athletics rules. For the 10 km distance, participants must be at least 15 years old on the day of the race. The 5.4 km distance is open to those aged 13 and over. On-site facilities include a car park, toilets, and refreshment stations. The course is not closed to traffic, and participants should expect to encounter vehicles on the narrow country lanes.
